Every Monday morning (except this coming Monday, December 23) we gather via Zoom to discuss the latest issues here in Colorado and beyond.

1. I Wish For You a Blessed Christmas
2. John Strand Stands for the J6 Prisoners
3. Polis Removes Executive Orders?
4. No Breakfast Club Zoom Call Next Monday, Merry Christmas!
1. I Wish For You a Blessed Christmas
Even to this day I remember when A Charlie Brown Christmas was first aired. Cartoonist Charles Schulz insisted that this scene be included in the program. At age 13 even I recognized how significant it was when this clear, straightforward lesson was given on the true meaning of Christmas. It is no less true today.
As you gather with friends and family I trust you will focus on the core significance of this day of celebration, in honor of when God became mortal flesh and lived among us.
2. John Strand Stands for the J6 Prisoners
John Strand, who was held in prison for many months as a J6 political prisoner is speaking up for the J6 prisoners who are still being held in Federal prisons. He is calling for more than a pardon (for crimes they never actually committed). He insists they should be exonerated and compensated for this mass injustice committed by the current administration (for a few more weeks). To hear his own words click here.
3. Polis Removes Executive Orders?
This past week Polis claimed to be cutting out dozens of executive orders from the Colorado regulations. However, it was more of a publicity stunt than a meaningful attempt to get the government out of citizens’ daily lives. The orders were obsolete regulations dating all the way back to 1920. Of his own executive orders he only included two. I am waiting for him to take serious actions to roll back government micro management of our daily lives. How about starting with the law that has essentially doubled the price of eggs in Colorado (more on this in next week’s newsletter)? Or the stupid banning of plastic bags and insisting customers pay for paper bags? Or the mandates to shut down coal fired power plants or the heavy regulations on large buildings that will be driving industries out of our state?
Watch Colorado’s governor very closely. He claims to be moderate, but he is in fact the most radical political leader we have ever had in an elected office in Colorado.
4. No Breakfast Club Zoom Call Next Monday, Merry Christmas!
Next Monday, on December 23, the Monday Morning Zoom call will take a break. It is too close to Christmas to expect anyone to focus on the political arena. The following Monday, on January 30, we will have a Monday morning Zoom call, but please remember, no call on the eve of Christmas Eve.

1. Nothing to See Here..
My big story this week is about the release of a report that “assures” us that Griswoldgate is no big deal. To get the word out to as many people, as soon as possible, I had it first published in the Rocky Mountain Voice.
I didn’t hold back, here is a excerpt: “Griswoldgate reads like a cheap novel from a third-world banana republic where the winner is the villain and the good guy gets shot. I am disgusted on several levels…”
To read more click here.
2. Give a Gift to PKC
Thank you to all who have already helped Protect Kids Colorado launch into the new year with the funding we need to meet the challenges of fighting against the transgender ideology that is being pushed onto our kids. Here is another reminder of the tragedies that we are working to stop.
Please consider joining those who have already stepped up to push us over the top of our goal for December. We have a good start, but a long way yet to go.
3. Keep Colorado’s Water in Colorado
The Colorado River feeds seven states, but most of that water originates here in Colorado. Over a hundred years ago a compact was signed by all the states dividing up the use of the Colorado River. Now the thirsty states downriver want more than their share of the water and it looks like the Biden administration is wanting to rush Colorado into a deal. Here is a good article on this important issue from Colorado water expert Greg Walcher.
4. Keep the Water, Dump the Regulations
In another article published in the Rocky Mountain Voice this week I joined Charles Hetherly in an opinion piece urging Colorado leaders to get on board with the Trump administration’s focus on downsizing the federal government. Read about it here.

1. ALEC Conference in D.C.
2. PKC Year End Campaign Moves Forward
3. God Blessed the USA
4. Three Stark Reminders
5. Breakfast Club Zoom Call is Every Monday
1. ALEC Conference in D.C.
This past week I was at the ALEC (American Legislative Exchange Council) conference in our nation’s capitol. It was a very encouraging and positive event. We heard from many national leaders, including Newt Gingrich and Vivek Ramaswamy. A major theme from many speakers was we won the election but now it is time to roll up our sleeves and get to work. Get to work rolling back economy busting regulations and promote common sense measures that promote freedom and healthy values.
I have attended ALEC events for almost 25 years. This was a celebration for good government implemented at the state level rather than the centralized dictates of Congress that we have been suffering under for at least several decades. One person I spoke to described good governance as keeping the politicians close enough to kick when they need some correction. That may be a rough way to say it, but we will all be a lot better off if the Feds back off and the states step up.
2. PKC Year End Campaign Moves Forward
For the last few weeks I have been keeping you aware of the year-end fundraising campaign for Protect Kids Colorado (PKC). Earlier this week The Rocky Mountain Voice published this article that Erin Lee and I wrote. We have a long way to go to establish a solid financial base for the coming year, but we are getting there. Please help if you can.
3. God Blessed the USA
Much has happened to our nation in the past few months. It has been the most positive time I have seen in decades. Here is an article that I think gives the most accurate analysis of these times. It was written by David Kupelian, managing editor of World Net Daily. This is a lengthy piece, but I think it is well worth reading.
4. Three Stark Reminders
However, not all is good. Here, here and here are three stark reminders that we have much to do to clean up what Biden and his cronies are leaving us.

1. Gender Industrial Complex
2. Euthanasia in Colorado
3. What Works When Disaster Strikes
4. Breakfast Club Zoom Call is Every Monday
1. Gender Industrial Complex
Last week I introduced a fundraising campaign for Protect Kids Colorado (PKC). Here is an article about the nation-wide problem that PKC is gearing up to address here in Colorado. I hope you will check out this revealing expose of the gender industrial complex and then join me in helping to launch this most worthy endeavor, Protect Kids in Colorado.
2. Euthanasia in Colorado
Here is a story about a woman who came to the very brink to end her life and discovered Euthanasia is a one-way street with a very dark ending. It didn’t happen in Colorado, but our state legalised doctor assisted suicide several years ago and this article again brings to mind this grisly practice which continues to be a present reality in our state.
We have much that needs to change…
3. What Works When Disaster Strikes
I recently saw a documentary on the hurricane that struck North Carolina and was reminded of a similar scenario in Louisiana with Katrina. About a year after Katrina I attended a legislative lunch with the Colorado Press Association. The speaker was the managing editor of the Times-Picayune in New Orleans. His main point was the federal government needs to do more in major disasters (more big government “solutions”). I countered his premise with what I had already learned, that the real help came locally, from churches and neighbors who pitched in to help. I had talked with many back then who were personally involved in helping people get back on their feet after Katrina.
The editor was not impressed with my analysis but watching this powerful recent documentary on the situation in North Carolina reaffirms what I have been seeing for some time. Recovery starts at home and the government is a poor substitute for what can happen when churches and communities band together to fix what has been broken.

1. PKC Fund Campaign
2. Election Fraud is Real and It Really Must Stop
3. Denver Mayor Needs to Get a Grip
4. Trump Appointments
5. Breakfast Club Zoom Call is Every Monday
1. PKC Fund Campaign
Protect Kids Colorado (PKC) first launched earlier this year with two initiatives to address the issues of transgender grooming in public schools. We (full disclosure – I am the chairman of the PKC board) didn’t get the initiatives on the ballot – this year, but we realized that this is a long-term cause and are now preparing to engage in more initiative campaigns and establish a permanent organization that will protect kids in Colorado through initiatives and other public policy related projects.
Our first step is to develop a solid funding base, starting with you. Please help us by clicking here.
BTW, if you need more encouragement to help PKC steer Colorado away from this ideology that has already captured states like California, read here about a tragic story from California.
2. Election Fraud is Real and It Really Must Stop
Need more proof of the deep problems we still have in our elections? Check this out.
3. Denver Mayor Needs to Get a Grip
I served in the state senate with Mike Johnston and at that time I considered him to be one of the more reasonable Democrat senators. That was then, now Denver Mayor Mike Johnston seems to have jumped off the left edge of governmental sanity. His claim that 50,000 Denver citizens should somehow prevent Federal officials from enforcing immigration law is ridiculous and perilously close to inciting a rebellion.
Come on Mike, stop trying to start a riot and figure out how to fulfill your oath to properly govern the United States citizens in the City and County of Denver. Your “newcomers” are not citizens and in fact are illegal aliens who should either show adequate proof that they legitimately qualify for asylum or go back home on their own or be forcibly sent back to their home country. This is tough medicine, but absolutely necessary for the peace and protection of our country.
For more details click here and here.
4. Trump Appointments
President-elect Donald Trump is filling out his administration with aggressive, top-notch appointments. It is clear that he intends to hit the ground running on day one in January. I am encouraged to see the focus of his team is much more than just within-the-Beltway-business-as-usual-bureaucrats.
For example, for Energy Department secretary he chose a brilliant entrepreneur from Colorado, Chris Wright. Last summer I heard Chris give a talk at the American Legislative Exchange Council’s annual meeting. I was thoroughly impressed. He should bring innovative and creative ideas to this strategic part of our economy.
Here is an article that explains more about Chris Wright and other Colorado leaders who have had, and for some, continue to have great influence on our nation.
Pam Bondi, for attorney General is another great example. She has a big job ahead of her, but I am assured by some who know her that she is certainly up to the task. She is smart, principled, experienced and tough. She will need it to get the Department of Justice back on track and weed out the bad apples in the federal government’s law enforcement agencies. Here is a brief overview of what I am talking about.

1. Proposition 131 Defeated
2. Buying Campaign Support
3. Pro Family Legislative Conference
4. More on Griswoldgate
5. Breakfast Club Zoom Call is Every Monday
1. Proposition 131 Defeated
One of the most dangerous ballot questions this year was Proposition 131, establishing a jungle primary and ranked choice voting. It was soundly defeated with a 7% margin, which was a surprising defeat, given the heavy promotion of the measure. The proponents spent nearly 20 million dollars and opponents less than one million dollars.
Radical changes to the election process in Colorado are often defeated. I remember more than once the voters rejecting efforts to eliminate the caucus system. At those times I was also surprised as only a small portion of the voters bother to show up at caucuses. I reasoned that since a small minority of voters went to caucuses , a small minority would support keeping them. However, the voters apparently understand the advantages of a caucus even if they don’t show up to one.
A jungle primary puts all candidates in one big, complex primary election. This dangerous policy could have essentially eliminated our two-party system. The main purpose of a political party is to choose their candidate for each elected office in general elections. The jungle primary eliminates this exclusive role for the parties, rendering their main purpose moot. What that leaves is people with money and power who can buy their election. Defeating 131 was a vote that preserves a legitimate place at the political table for the average voter.
Ranked-choice voting in the general election would have allowed more games to be played in our elections as the complexities of the process would make any meaningful audits or recounts virtually impossible. Ranked choice voting is said to guarantee the winner always wins with more than 50% of the votes. However, that is accomplished by throwing out the first votes of enough individual ballots to artificially create a majority winner.
131 was started by Kent Thiry, who also brought us the open primary system in 2016. 131 was his next step and would have eliminated “We the People” from the process giving more power to the rich and powerful (like Kent Thiry).
In a refreshing vote for freedom Colorado citizens saw this power grab for what it was and sent it packing.
2. Buying Campaign Support
Apparently Harris bought her endorsements, as is reported here.
Trump earned his support, as is reported here.
3. Pro Family Legislative Conference
This week I am at the 20th annual Pro Family Legislative Conference. This gathering of state legislators draws legislators from every corner of our country who are committed to applying conservative Biblical values to the deliberations at their state capitals.
It is a jubilant meeting as the red wave in last week’s election has revolutionized our expectations for our nation’s future. However, from a wide range of expert speakers we have been warned that the election victories are just a start. The real heavy lifting is the task of governing with courage and wisdom. It is not the time to sit back and coast. Our new-found majorities must be translated into the tangible legislation that promotes life, liberty and property.
I have attended all 20 of these annual conferences and by far this is the largest, with nearly 400 people attending. I look forward to see this positive energy and great information translated into meaningful policies for freedom for years to come.

1. Wow!
2. Griswoldgate
3. Breakfast Club Zoom Call is Every Monday
1. Wow!
What a week!
This newsletter is usually filled with bad news warning the reader of a multitude of problems and potential concerns. I will include some of that here as well (read the next story) but for now let us bask in the great news of the victories in Congress and the presidential race. The looming Harris catastrophe has been avoided and President (-elect) Trump has already been taking bold steps to right the ship of state.
It is with great relief and immense gratitude for God’s merciful grace that we were allowed to prevail in the national elections. The entire campaign has been filled with miraculous events and His hand in the affairs of our country has been obvious. I trust we will not forget this moment as we move through the months and years to come.
Of course we must expect conflicts, but let us always confront them with confidence, courage and integrity. Our country was established with these timeless principles by the generations of our founders. I pray we will also be faithful to these God-given truths.
The preamble to the Colorado states:
“We, the people of Colorado, with profound reverence for the Supreme Ruler of the Universe, in order to form a more independent and perfect government; establish justice; insure tranquility; provide for the common defense; promote the general welfare and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this constitution for the “State of Colorado.”
May we move forward with this same determination and humility.
2. Griswoldgate
Last week I said “ditch these compromised electronic systems and hand count the paper ballots now.” This was in response to the fact that the Colorado Secretary of State’s office had left for months on their public website complete passwords to the BIOS systems of over 600 election machines in Colorado. (Yes, these were complete passwords, despite Griswold’s insistence that they were “partial.”) For more details click here, here and here.
On Monday the Libertarian Party took the issue to court and despite the fact that this was way more serious than anything Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters was accused of in 2021, which resulted in all of Mesa County’s machines being decertified and replaced, the judge ignored the facts and declared the machines to be fine for the 2024 election in Colorado. This was not a surprise, I have learned to expect Colorado judges to be more political than legal in their decisions and this judge was true to that form.
However, those pesky facts still remain. Passwords made available on the public SOS website for months AND the SOS hiding this critical information from the county election officials for several days make these machines seriously compromised and not appropriate to process our votes in the 2024 general election.
However, despite Griswold’s attempts to hide and downplay this serious security breach, there is a path for SOS Jena Griswold to help restore her reputation and the public’s confidence in Colorado’s election equipment. She needs to conduct robust audits of the most questionable election races, or, better yet, hand count those races in full public view. She insists that Colorado has the “gold standard” of US election systems, let her prove it with clear and unambiguous public demonstrations. Anything less tells a very different tale, which is what I consider to be the real truth until she proves her, so far, hollow claims.
I am sure there are many races across the state that still have people scratching their heads over surprising totals. Test them all! Here in Northern Colorado I suggest reviewing the Larimer County Commissioner races.
